Statement from new Mayor, Mike Penn

Greetings everyone! I was selected last evening by the Mount Pocono Borough Council to fill the remainder of Fred Courtright’s term. It truly has been a humbling experience, and first and foremost, I thank our the people of Mount Pocono and our Council for the confidence and trust you’ve shown in me. I also thank Fred Courtright for his service and dedication to our Borough and wish him and his family the best in Florida. By way of introduction, I moved to Mount Pocono a little under two years ago. I grew up in Perry County, Pennsylvania, a small farm community near Harrisburg and Carlisle. I studied neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and then moved to New York City to work in science book publishing. My career has required that I be an ideas person and that I advocate to make those ideas happen. I have a host of ideas for our Borough, all with the focus of revitalizing our downtown, our Borough, and our local economy.
