The Borough Council
Mount Pocono has an elected 7-member Borough Council which plays a central role in borough government.
Council sets policy, enacts legislation, adopts budgets, controls expenditures, appoints advisory commissions & boards, and hires employees. Council members are elected to four year terms, with either 3 or 4 members up for election every two years. Municipal (or local) elections are held in odd-numbered years.
Council elects a president and a vice-president from its ranks. The president, in cooperation with council, establishes standing committees and makes appointments to the committees. These standing committees generally consider all matters pertaining to a particular area of public policy, such as land use regulation, personnel, or recreation, and make recommendations to the full council.
The president also appoints liaisons to the Borough’s committees & boards. These liaisons report council developments to the committees & boards, and report committee/board developments to the council.
The Borough Council meets the first and third Mondays of each month, for regular and work sessions, respectively. The meetings are at 7:00 pm in the Council Room on the second floor of the Borough building, 1361 Pocono Blvd (Route 611), Mount Pocono, PA 18344. The public is encouraged to attend and participate in all borough meetings.
Joshua Walker, Borough Manager
Joshua Walker is the borough manager of Mount Pocono. He oversees all departments and daily business for the borough. Joshua also serves as Planning Commission Secretary and Open Records Officer.
