As a Part-Time Parks Maintenance Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and aesthetic appeal of our community parks. You will be responsible for performing various maintenance tasks to preserve and enhance the beauty of our outdoor spaces.
Responsibilities:
- Lawn Maintenance: Perform routine mowing, edging, and trimming of grass in designated areas within the parks.
- Landscape Care: Maintain flower beds, shrubs, and trees by watering, weeding, pruning, and planting as needed to ensure their health and appearance.
- Trash Removal: Regularly patrol park grounds to collect litter and debris, ensuring a clean and inviting environment for park visitors.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain park maintenance equipment such as lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools safely and efficiently.
- Facility Upkeep: Assist in the upkeep and cleanliness of park facilities including restrooms, picnic areas, and playgrounds.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance tasks to ensure the well-being of yourself and others.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other team members and park staff to complete tasks efficiently and contribute to a positive work environment.
Requirements:
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, including lifting heavy objects, bending, kneeling, and standing for long durations.
- Attention to Detail: Strong eye for detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and aesthetic appeal in park areas.
- Reliability: Punctuality and dependability are essential for this role to ensure timely completion of tasks and effective park maintenance.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings, to accommodate the needs of the parks and recreation department.
- Communication Skills: Effective verbal communication skills to interact with park visitors and colleagues in a courteous and professional manner.
- Experience: Previous experience in landscaping, lawn maintenance, or related field preferred but not required.
